Contradictions – The Poem

On one hand,
I am trying to move ahead in the world,
On the other hand,
I am emotionally held back by the lack of companionship.
On one hand,
I am trying to project that I don’t need anyone,
On the other hand,
I am always searching for that special someone.
On one hand,
I am trying to be cheerful around everyone,
On the other hand,
I am always sulky.
On one hand,
I have never been in a better position before,
On the other hand,
I have not felt more lonely before.
On one hand,
I have more things than I have ever had before,
On the other hand,
I am more miserable than I have ever been before.
On one hand,
I have the world at my feet,
On the other hand,
I have an albatross on my neck.
On one hand,
I want to do amazing things in life and live forever,
On the other hand,
I feel like a complete mess and want to die tomorrow.
On one hand,
Life is all fine and dandy,
On the other hand,
I am dying every day inside.
